There are various types of Schema mark-ups like the FAQ Schema, HowTo Schema, Q&A Schema, etc. These Schema types are great to improve SEO and increase page visibility for keywords. The best part is that some of the Structured Data types can be used to send traffic to two or more web pages with a single organic listing.

FAQ Schema is a Schema type that can be used for FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) pages or any page that includes two or more questions in it. A FAQ page will typically include a list of questions & answers – mostly relevant to a single topic. Thus, a FAQ schema is used to markup a page or a section of the page as FAQs. It tells Google Search Engine which questions are asked on the webpage and points out the answers.

The application of FAQ schema thus shows a rich snippet with a collapsible list of questions under the SERP result. When the question is clicked on, the answer is shown with a dropdown.

However, the FAQ-rich snippets can appear in a few minutes. This is mainly because Google is rather fast in crawling the FAQ structured data and accordingly adjusting the SERP listings.

* The best part of using a FAQ Schema is that Google allows for use of links or other HTML within the answers of the FAQ. Thus, you can provide links to relevant pages in the answers and drive organic traffic to a number of your web pages within a single rich result.
